Homemade Adaptogen Cocoa Recipe ☕️

First off, what are adaptogens?

Adaptogens are a class of plants that have been used for centuries that help the body adapt to stress. They work to suit any body that consumes them because they go into the body, and balance out what there is too much of, and balance what there is to little of and brings it into harmony. They cater to each individual bodies needs, taking a look around and saying “what can be done here?” 😉 Adaptogens help immensely with stress, anxiety, fatigue, etc., with our body being able to adapt to the stresses placed on it, we can live with more ease, and fight off illness better!

So, to the cocoa!

Everyone around here is getting sick it seems, and I won’t have it. It’s also chilly, and what better way to both warm up, relax and fight off the funk than some adaptogen cocoa? 🙂

Real and pure cocoa is bitter, and unpleasant tasting unless sweetener is added, but it is what contains all the beneficial antioxidants and is really good for us, but don’t worry, there is a sweetener option added in this recipe! For this recipe, we will be creating from scratch, thankfully everyone loves homemade hot cocoa! 🥰


🌿2 tablespoons Organic Pure Cocao (usually I use alkalized cocoa but I didn’t have it on hand so I used my organic cocoa, you still get the benefits!)

🌿1 teaspoon Organic ashwagandha Powder

🌿1 teaspoon Organic Reishi Mushroom Powder

🌿1/2 teaspoon Organic Maca Root Powder

🌿1/2 teaspoon Organic Cordyceps Powder

🌿1 1\2 to 2 cups of Plant based milk (it really works best for this recipe) gluten free oat milk is best for this recipe, but whatever you have on hand works fine!

🌿 A pinch of salt (Himalayan is best)

🌿A cap full of vanilla extract

🌿5 tablespoons of sweetener

To make:

1. In a medium or small pot, on medium heat, begin to heat your milk.

2. Add all ingredients as it warms up.

3. Use a whisk to whisk all ingredients until fully blended into the milk, turn of heat when you feel the cocoa is warm enough.

4. Let cool a little bit and taste test.

5. Enjoy and feel better 🤗
